Lacrime del Pescatore

2010 Spring Window Display
Mikimoto 5th Avenue - Manhattan, NY
Lacrime del Pescatore, The Tears of a Fisherman, was my inspiration and the title of the spectacular Ingo Maurer lighting fixtures featured in this particular window.

For the Mikimoto New York Spring 2010 installation I worked alongside my good friend and colleague Erin Bazos. Erin introduced me to Ingo Maurer's work and collectively we felt that the sets of 3 monofilament fishing nets in varying sizes would be an incredibly eye-catching yet elegant way to illustrate the process, effort and beauty that goes into harvesting the world's finest cultured pearls. To emphasize the point we hung two fixtures and filled them to bursting with oversized "pearls" mimicking the exotic colors of South Sea and Freshwater cultured pearls. Crystal "tears" drip from each net and continue downward into each vitrine interior. The strategically placed spotlights reflect off of the pearls, nets and crystals like morning sunlight on a fisherman's first catch of the day.
